MASTERCLASS Building and marketing a wine brand (S.E region)
The masterclass is being held at Wine Dept, Plumpton College on Monday, 18 March, 2013, starting at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00.
This Masterclass will focus on the principles of wine marketing relating to branding. It will cover the elements of wine branding, wine product portfolio types and brand hierarchies.
Dr Johan Bruwer is an internationally recognised specialist in Wine Marketing, Wine Tourism and Winery Business Management. Previously Head of the Wine Business Group at The University of Adelaide in Australia, he is currently running his own consultancy business, WineValueChain Insights. He works with some of the largest wine companies in the world Constellation, Treasury, Pernod Ricard, etc while also having an active involvement with many boutique, small- and medium-size wineries. He works in both the New World Wine and Old World, to more than 200 individual wine companies in 37 different wine regions. Most of his consulting work has been in the areas of wine tourism particularly the tasting room, regional branding, wine consumer behaviour, and strategic business planning for wineries. During the last 10 years, he presented executive wine marketing and wine business training courses on 25 occasions in total in USA, South Africa, Chile, Canada, France, and in Australia to practitioners from the wine industries of these countries either in-company or in an open forum format.. Johan experienced in research, mainly wine tourism and consumer research, and in market analysis and attractiveness studies and strategic planning aspects - to date more than 150 completed research projects in 6 different wine countries and has an extensive and ever-growing list of wine business and marketing publications.
