MASTERCLASS Wine Tourism: Optimising your Cellar Door Sales with Prof Stephen Charters MW

This Masterclass is aimed at producers who wish to learn how to increase visitor numbers and sales through their cellar door.

The morning session will focus on:
• The benefits of wine tourism
• Beyond tours and tastings: options to attract visitors and increase sales
• Maximising consumer marketing opportunities
• Skills for successful wine tourism and cellar doors sales
• Cases studies of best (and worst!) practice in wine tourism.

The afternoon session will be a workshop to enable participants to identify their own business’s needs. In order to target training requirements, Steve Charters will send a questionnaire to participants before the Masterclass.

Prof. Stephen Charters MW is Professor of Champagne Management at Reims Management School. He is currently developing research and courses relevant to the champagne industry, sparkling wine and the wine business generally. He worked in wine retail in Sydney before becoming a wine academic in Western Australia. His research interests include consumer behaviour e.g. consumer motivation, luxury products, authenticity, the consumers engagement with wine, wine tourism and management expertise in the wine industry. Steve formerly taught at Edith Cowan University in Perth where he gained a PhD investigating consumer perceptions of wine quality. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Wine Research and the International Journal of Wine Business Management and a member of the Institute of Masters of Wine.
