Winter Pruning

The workshop is being held at Plumpton College, Wine Science Centre on 2015-02-03 00:00:00, starting at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00.

The Pruning Workshop will look to improve trainees all round technical pruning ability, and provide a greater understanding of how pruning relates to crop yield and quality. It also aims to provide a greater understanding of the number of two way relationships between winter pruning and many other aspects of viticulture.
Trainees should be able to use the knowledge gained to make pruning decisions with a view to optimising vine yields, wine quality and overall vineyard management.

Dave Perrin is the Vineyard Instructor for the Plumpton College vineyards and teaches viticulture subjects on the wine production courses. He holds the Fdip Wine Production and WSET Advanced qualifications. His earlier career was with the MOD equipment testing, and also teaching hang gliding and paragliding. Before joining Plumpton Dave was a vineyard operative at Nyetimber, one of Englands largest vineyards. He has also worked at Breaky Bottom, Sedlescombe and Hobdens vineyards.
