MASTERCLASS: Vineyard management practices to improve efficiency, crop yield and fruit qualit

This Masterclass will have three areas of focus: Methodologies for assessing efficiency of grapevine training systems; State of the art of hand and mechanical pruning of grapevines; The impact of leaf removal and the management of crop load and fruit quality.
Stefano Poni is the full professor of Viticulture and Chair of the Instituto of Frutti-Viticoltura of the Universit Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Piacenza, Italy. He has authored or co-authored 175 papers and a regular invited speaker at industry technical conferences. Stefanos prizes include the Perdisa prize in 1994, the Enotecnici Prize in 2004 and the Rudolf Hermann Foundation Prize in 2011. In 2013 he won the American Society of Viticulture and Enology Best Paper Award. Stefano Poni is a member of the Italian Academy of Grape and Wine, Co-Editor of the ISHS volume on Strategies to Optimise Winegrape Quality, Editor of the ISHS volume on First International Workshop on Vineyard Mechanization and Grape and Wine Quality. He is the Associate editor for both the American Journal of Enology and Viticulture and for the Australian Journal of Grape and Wine Research.
